On behalf of Castellum, and in collaboration with Kulturstaden and Campus, we were tasked with developing a concept and activation strategy for lower Torsgatan in Stockholm – a stretch that has long been experienced more as a windswept commuter route than a place to stay. Our work also included the naming of the area and the creation of a visual identity that could give it a clear and unified character.
The result was Norra Bangården – a name rooted in the area’s railway history, but also a promise of something new. Here, the raw meets the refined, the industrial blends with the cultural. An area designed to pulse from morning to night, inviting exploration through its constant contrast between old and new.
The communicative platform was built around the concept “Where contrasts create new perspectives.” It captures the essence of Norra Bangården as an urban oasis in its own corner of the city, with the railway tracks as a backdrop. A vibrant stretch where rhythm meets calm, and where architecture, people, food, art, and culture intertwine into a living whole.
The visual identity balances historical heritage with future possibilities – inspired by the industrial aesthetics of the rail yards yet renewed with modern colors and forms to signal energy, creativity, and continuous evolution.
Norra Bangården is a destination for the curious, a stage for contrasts that spark new perspectives and transform lower Torsgatan into a natural part of Stockholm’s urban pulse.
